First up though, a little about the man himself, Lil Wayne hails from the south and kicked off his career as one of the “Hot Boys” with Cash Money Records as he gained a name for himself as a solo artist stringing together some great underground beats. Lil Wayne’s first album release with the group was titled “Get It How U Live” at the tender age of just 18 back in 1997.

He became the only remaining member of the Hot Boy posse on Cash Money leaving his future and the label bleak.

Instead of Lil Wayne releasing his #4 album, he scrapped it and released his work as an underground mix tape called Da Drought in 2003 just to get it out there. So rather than sitting idle Lil Wayne set to work on Tha Carter in 04 which was a change in direction and style for the hit rapper, it was packed full of beats but wasn’t truely stunning but it did highlight the direction Wayne was heading in, and his fans plus the industry liked what they saw. One song stood out from the rest, and that was “Go DJ” which spurred the album on to becomming a Top 5 hit. People noticed, Lil Wayne was in demand appearing on the video clip for “Soldier” by Destiny’s Child’s which shot to #3 earning the rapper more recognition and notoriety.

Fast Forward to 2005, Lil Wayne threw a couple of Mixtapes on to the scene titled Dedication done with DJ Drama as well as Suffix DJ Khaled which reinforced Wayne’s place in the freestyle rap stratosphere. As a result, alter in the year Tha Carter Vol 2 debuted at a respectable #2 on the Billboard Charts. This Lil Wayne album sold a ton of copies earning the dude respect and a chunk of cash.

Stolen tracks for his next album leaked on to the Internet in download only EP in 2007. A year later the same EP appeared as a bonus disc on a limited edition release of Tha Carter III. Initial singles from the album included “A Milli” and “Lollipop.”

T-Mobile’s @home phone service goes nationwide.

T-Mobile will most likely announce Wednesday that it’s new @Home voice service will be available right across the US starting July 2 2008.

The mobile phone operator has been testing the new @Home Internet telephone service since February in Seattle and Dallas. Now the Home service, which is designed to replace traditional home phones, will be available to any T-Mobile cell phone customer just like a VOIP aka ‘Voice Over Internet Protocol’ service.

T-Mobile subscribers can connect any regular home phone to a T-Mobile router which will allow you to make calls over the Internet instead of via regular copper phone lines. The will costs $10 a month for unlimited domestic local and long distance phone calls.

You will need to be a T-Mobile wireless customers and subscribe to a minimum $39.99 individual call plan or families subscribing to a minimum $49.99 monthly T-Mobile calling plan to be eligible for the service. The @Home service also requires that users subscribe to an internet broadband service to enable the calls to be router via the internet. You will also need to use an equipped T-Mobile router, which is Wi-Fi capable so all up it’s not a bad deal and offers huge cost savings especially to heavy users of the phone service.

This router is also capable of providing the T-Mobile Wi-Fi HotSpot @Home phone service. This service allows T-Mobile customers to use dual-mode cell and Wi-Fi phones that automatically switch between both networks. When you are in range of your home Wi-Fi hot spot, you automatically use your broadband network to make unlimited domestic calls over your internet connection. When you stray away from your home Wi-Fi network, the phone automatically switches to the T-Mobile cellular network which is damn handy if you ask me. I’m not sure what happens if you initiate a call on the Wi-Fi and while the call is in progress you exit the Wi-Fi’s reach, but i would assume T-Mobile have this covered by allowing auto-switching while the call is in progress.

While the one year trial was in operation, T-Mobile indicated a massive 45% of new subscribers were “not” an existing T-Mobile customer and actually ditched the old provider just to utilize the new @Home service. This is a pretty substantial statistic, I’d say the guys at T-Mobile are about to get a lot bigger once the nation wide roll out occurs.

Are your children eating up call minutes talking on their cell phones at home? This new T-Mobile offering is for you, the Wi-Fi service will allow the kids to talk as much as they want without running up costly minutes which can equate to a very considerable yearly saving.

The only slight downfall is the @Home relies on regular internet access in order to operate, so if for any reason you loose broadband connectivity such as a cut optic fiber, a disconnection due to a billing mixup etc you can find yourself without your @Home service. So while it is very cheap and convieneint for heavy phone users i would advise you to have an alternate phone such as a regular mobile or even retain your regular copper wire phone on a minimal monthly contract for use in emergencies.

All in all, this offering from T-Mobile is a good one and is definitely the way of the future and it won’t be long before the other carriers like Cingular and Verizon Wireless jump on the bandwagon when their customers jump ship to T-Mobile for the new VOIP service. In the future, everything will be fed in to our homes via internet connection such as TV, Movies, Radio, Phone and many other services so this VOIP @Home service is the next logical step.

Rhythm and Booms that is scheduled to take place today and tomorrow in Madison, WI will still operate despite the expected rain in both days, which has just been announced in a statement by Rhythm and Booms officials.

We intend to operate Rhythm & Booms tomorrow as normal, June 28, even though we do expect a few showers or a thundershower in the late afternoon and it will still be a great summerfest lineup.

We also expect showers on Sunday, which would have been the rain date, but accompanied by cooler temperatures and more wind. Sunday’s weather would provide a much less comfortable environment for fireworks viewing.

At this time, it appears the weather in the evening for the fireworks will be good. The best chance of showers is from noon to 3PM, so when you come to the park, please bring equipment to keep sheltered from the rain.

In spite of the showers, music, festivities, great food and a lot of fun will be had by all.

Some 250,000 are expected to turn out at Warner Park for the event dubbed as the “largest fireworks display in the Midwest.”

A special traffic plan will be in effect Saturday night to handle the estimated 60,000 vehicles. The plan includes shuttles, road closures and one-way traffic on streets.

For the second time, Rhythm and Booms organizers have planned a post-fireworks party to alleviate traffic congestion after the show.

“Remember that after the fireworks, instead of fighting the traffic, both of our music stages are open. Our great acts, mainliners are on stage from 10 p.m until after fireworks all the way until 11:30. The beer gardens are open, hamburgers and hot dogs, Pepsi and all kinds of things,” said Rhythm & Booms organizer.

East Gorham Street remains closed for summer construction, WISC-TV reported. Police recommended that people park further away from Warner Park and walk there to avoid congestion as it will probably be quicket getting to the venue.

The 35-minute fireworks show is set to begin at 9:30. The fireworks show is choreographed to music, which is broadcast over WOLX-94.9 FM. Spectators are encouraged to bring their boom boxes and radios to the park and tune in, the more music we have pumping the better the experience will be.

Organizers said they are monitoring the wind Saturday, as they can only shoot fireworks safely if winds are 12 to 15 mph. If winds do not die down by show time, they said the fireworks will be briefly delayed.

Remember people should also come prepared for wet, soft ground at Warner Park and bring something to sit on to stay dry.

There will be music and performances from artists such as Little Vito and the Torpedoes, Road Trip, BritBeat, Spicy Tie Band, The Groove Hogs and many other entertainers.

Diablo 3 has been official unveiled by Blizzard today, during a press conference at their Worldwide Invitational event, taking place at the Porte de Versailles Expo Centre in Paris.

It’s too early to estimate Diablo III’s release date. Blizzard.com said it’s goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. Blizzard said they intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets their own high expectations and those of their players.

Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows and Macintosh PC platforms. Also added to the argument is the fact that Blizzard has never used a teaser reveal for a release date, supposedly ruling out a Lich King-related.

Some details of the Diablo iii release from the Blizzard Website:

*  Yes, the new game is in full 3D using Blizzard’s own in-house graphics engine.
* The game’s storyline takes place 20 years after the events of Diablo II where a comet impactsthe place where Diablo once entered the game’s fantasy world. Obviously, stuff happens.
* The game will have five character classes. Some of the old character classes in the first two games like the Barbarian will return but there’s all new classes such as the Witch Doctor.
* Diablo III’s world will be more interactive with traps, destructible environments and Havok supported game physics.
* In addition to single player, there will be a full multiplayer experience via Blizzard’s Battle.net system including co-op.
* As usual, Blizzard has not yet revealed a release date but it will be released for both Windows and Macintosh PCs at the same time (no console versions have been announced).
* One minor note; the game’s lead designer is Jay Wilson who came to Blizzard from Relic Entertainment where he was the lead designer for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.

The game’s web site has a cinematic trailer and a 20 minute gameplay movie, we hope to have both uploaded onto Big Download soon. In the meantime both WowInsider and Joystiq are reporting from the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational where the game announcement was made.
